Thank You
Those two little words “thank you” are simple but powerful.
We give thanks every day of our lives for everything from a passing grade on a test to a green light when we are in a hurry. We have had these two words ingrained in our minds from the beginning of our existence – even before we knew we existed.
Those words are uttered in delivery rooms and doctor’s offices. Often they are not said aloud, but we know they are said.
These are two of the first words an infant hears from a parent. Even before babies can speak we thank them for everything from smiles to pulled up tulips from the flower beds they offered as gifts.
Why is it then we cannot find the words to thank those in our nation who have sacrificed their time and sometimes their lives to protect us? A simple thank you is not difficult to say, yet we hold back. Or, perhaps we think “they know how we feel.”
It is not enough for us to just go through our lives and ignore those who have served our country. We take the time to thank those who have fallen, but then we just go on our way.
It is time, no it is past time for us to say express our gratitude and thank them all.
This was the beginning of the journey.
